They will eat anything (including stone, wood, or fiber) and turb it into crystals which can drop a variety of resources including black Pearl's, organic polymer, or ...Gacha will eat anything for creating crystals that you stick in their inventory, i find seeds the easiest to get and allows me to do other things while they munch away . make sure to get the gachas crafting skill to 160 to get the maxium production items for every crystal. item crystals will have better quality most the time as well.

I recommend you to continue with the stone and chitin, I bet thats the best way even better than snails. 2 dedi storages (chitin & stone) at 2-3 chemy benchs, fill with the rational portions to the 100 slots of each (1/3 chitin & 2/3 stone) and thats it, hold A in the paste icon to craft the max ykr.
